If you upgrade to 2012R2, you can just use straight OSD for XP deployments.
Not that you should be doing any in 4 more months anyways ;)

Subject: [mssms] Support for Windows 8.1 and beyond

We are in the very early stages of thinking of Win 8.1, and I want my SCCM
infrastructure to be ahead of the curve instead of waiting for the day they
tell me "ok push Win 8.1" so I currently running SCCM 2012 SP1 (no CU's) on a
Server 2012 with SQL 2012. I installed MDT 2012, but currently not using it yet
(still have an old WDS server with MDT 2012).

So my question ( which seems like a no-brainer) do I upgrade to Server 2012 R2
and SCCM 2012 R2/MDT 2013 to get me full leverage of the future? I have been
holding off crating images in SCCM until I get a good understanding of our
needs, and currently I only have a Primary site (no DP's or MP's) but that will
change very soon.

I understand that MDT 2013 does not support XP (which may be a small issue) but
I am sure I can work around it. What if I already have an XP wim file and
import it into MDT 2013? Will that work?

Thanks,

Kevin Johnston
