You gain access to all the scripts that MDT has, so its less custom scripting for you. (That’s the biggest thing.)
Here is a response Johan gave in a forum thread: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/cebc91fd-dccf-47d9-b1fb-51e8ed220824/mdt-integration-with-sccm?forum=mdt · The shorthand story is that the MDT Zero Touch components extends ConfigMgr OSD with well over a hundred additional OSD features and functions. Out of those features I have listed my favorites below: 1. Rules. A framework that enables dynamic deployments 2. The MDT database, a separate database to store OSD related settings 3. A development framework for OSD related customizations. It's not that you cannot deploy OS with ConfigMgr if you don't add MDT. It's just that sooner or later you want to do customizations, and you can either develop those on your own, or download readymade, tested and supported customizations. To quote Michael Niehaus: The value that MDT is trying to add: doing things for you that you didn't initially know you needed. Here is a more extensive list of the features that MDT adds on top of the ConfigMgr platform http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/smslist/archive/2009/06/22/mssms-added-value-to-integrate-mdt-into-sccm-hjugsea.aspx Note: If you are a consultant and are billing by the hour, do not use MDT, it may mean less billable hours. Integration SCCM with MDT will "unfortunately" help you get the work done much quicker :) Christopher Catlett Consultant | Detroit [MCTS_2013_small] Sogeti USA Office 248-876-9738 |Fax 877.406.9647 26957 Northwestern Highway, Suite 130, Southfield, MI 48033-8456 www.us.sogeti.com<http://www.us.sogeti.com/> From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Brian McDonald Sent: Tuesday, January 14, 2014 5:03 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [mssms] MDT integration Thanks for the response everyone.
