Will there be shuttles to and from the hotels that are a little farther
away? If so, is it worth taking them, or just getting a cab?

I?m staying a few blocks away to get additional exercise, the facilities
are nicer, and it?s closer to the park for running.

I could actually arrive at 7:50 am, it's a direct 1.5 hour flight from
BHM. But as we were going through registration the Hyatt had rooms for
180.00 per night so I ended up booking there Sunday-Friday. My second
choice, for anyone else interested, was to rent an entire apartment
through airbnb.com. That was actually cheaper, closer and nicer than the
hotel. The only reason I didn't do it was because I didn't feel like
dealing with paying for it myself and submitting an expense report. There
were a lot of units available nearby (within blocks)

Just a tip?any conference ? always fly in the day before.

Registration opens early on Monday (7am), but you can register all day on
Sunday. The keynote (Brad) will kick off at 8:30am and you?ll not want to
miss this one. Thursday ends when you want it to, depending on the number
of sessions you have planned and potential community events you want
attend. There will be some significant community events each day (wink,
wink). The closing party is from 7:30pm-11:30pm on Thursday, so you could
fly out Thursday afternoon if you want to miss it.

TechEd closing parties are phenomenal (i.e., they spend a LOT of money on
venues, food, and celebrities). But, if you?re an aging MMS?er (like most
of us) the closing event is probably not your bag anymore. Imagine 12,000
people attending the Dr. Seuss-themed closing party at MMS. I?ll be there,
of course, but only to cover the community and social aspects of it.

to fly in Sunday or Monday. What time will it end on Thursday?

All in due time. I hope to have everything finalized shortly, but we are
carving out a significant presence at the event to help ease MMS?ers into
TechEd.

I?ll be there.

Right now about 20% of overall registration are MMS alumni, with about
half of those who have never attended TechEd before. We?re working out the
myITforum details and will have more info to share officially soon.

Who is going to TechEd? I am trying to book my trip today. The hotel rooms
around the convention center are OUTRAGOUSLY expensive. $300.00-500.00 per
night. My employer isn't going to go for that.
