Just not the way it's done. Like other events, there are various parties
that go on during the week after conference hours. Keep Tuesday night open,
btw.

For a group that size they should break things up, have several smaller
parties. A couple 1000 per location or something.

TechEd '13 closing party was at the Superdome which didn't sound too good at
first. But Drew Brees saved the day by making an appearance and throwing
touchdown passes to the attendees.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVx7Gh4iCew#t=33 I guess Tina Turner showed
up, but we left before that. It wasn't the House of Blues, but it wasn't
bad either. When you have 12K people, your options are limited.

Having never attending TechEd this aging MMS'er is curious to see what a
"Real" closing party looks like ..

MMS's closing party's started off good: Jim Belushi and Dan Akroyd @ House
of Blues, Los Lobos @ ESPN Zone, Gaslamp District crawl @ San Diego . then
they went in the toilet capped off with your mentioned event :(

Just a tip.any conference - always fly in the day before.

Registration opens early on Monday (7am), but you can register all day on
Sunday. The keynote (Brad) will kick off at 8:30am and you'll not want to
miss this one. Thursday ends when you want it to, depending on the number of
sessions you have planned and potential community events you want attend.
There will be some significant community events each day (wink, wink). The
closing party is from 7:30pm-11:30pm on Thursday, so you could fly out
Thursday afternoon if you want to miss it.

TechEd closing parties are phenomenal (i.e., they spend a LOT of money on
venues, food, and celebrities). But, if you're an aging MMS'er (like most of
us) the closing event is probably not your bag anymore. Imagine 12,000
people attending the Dr. Seuss-themed closing party at MMS. I'll be there,
of course, but only to cover the community and social aspects of it.

:)

All in due time. I hope to have everything finalized shortly, but we are
carving out a significant presence at the event to help ease MMS'ers into
TechEd.

I'll be there.

Right now about 20% of overall registration are MMS alumni, with about half
of those who have never attended TechEd before. We're working out the
myITforum details and will have more info to share officially soon.

Who is going to TechEd? I am trying to book my trip today. The hotel rooms
around the convention center are OUTRAGOUSLY expensive. $300.00-500.00 per
night. My employer isn't going to go for that.
