I got the Dell utility to work. Had to enter a username and password in the connection string. I'm not crazy about that but it seemed to be the only way to make it work. The data that comes back seems good and it runs really quickly. The only thing I don't like is how it returns multiple rows for each machines. I seem to recall that Tom Watson resolved that in his iteration of the old vbscript that we used to use.

I've played around with several scripts and can't find one that works. Seems like I misunderstood how the official Dell tool works.. It grabs all the Dell service tags and collects the info and sticks it back into the database. No need to run anything on each machine. http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/os-applications/w/wiki/2565.dell-client-integration-pack.aspx I ran it and some reasons the data didn't get into the database. I'll keep goofing with it and post what I find. ________________________________ John Marcum Sr. Desktop Architect Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP ________________________________ From: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Andrew Craig Sent: Wednesday, January 22, 2014 8:03 AM To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Subject: [mssms] RE: Warranty Info How does yours look? Does it do more than pull stuff from WMI? i.e. create http request from Dell website? Or is everything in WMI? If so you could collect that in HINV and report on it? Just asking because I haven't tried it myself and looking to gain from sour experiences. I know there are other tools that will store it in a separate database etc, I do not want that. I want the data in CM. http://ninet.org/2011/07/dell-hp-warranty-info-in-sccm/ ________________________________ John Marcum Sr. Desktop Architect Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP ________________________________ ________________________________ Confidentiality Notice: This e-mail is from a law firm and may be protected by the attorney-client or work product privileges.
