Sounds like he is running SQL in mixed authentication mode. No, changing the SA
password will not bother CM at all. It's generally advised to not even enable
the SA account but some dba's think they just have to have it. (they don't)

Okay - thanks to everyone. I actually have a correction. I misunderstood what
he was asking me.

He is actually talking about the System Admin account for SQL. If he changes
the password for this will it break SCCM?

Thanks,
Brian

Basically John is right now you MUST change it via the SQL Server Configuration
Manager. And not from Services in control applet.

I think all you'd need to do is go to the services, enter the new password and
restart the services. (I think)

Subject: [mssms] Changing the SQL Service Account PW

Hey everyone,

My DBA is knocking on my door requesting to change the SQL Service Account PW
we have setup in our SCCM environment (local SQL).

If this password is changed, what do we need to do from an SCCM standpoint to
ensure nothing breaks.

Thanks,

Brian
