The Configuration Manager client will configure the Software Update Point
using Local Group Policy. If you wish to override this setting, because you
are using a stand-alone WSUS instance for server updates, then you'll need
to use an Active Directory Group Policy Object (GPO) to configure it.

An Active Directory GPO will override the Local Group Policy setting, and
while you'll get a message in the ConfigMgr client logs complaining about
that, it is of little consequence.

Trevor Sullivan

Subject: [mssms]SCCM DPs with Client but Updateds managed by different WSUS

We have a bunch of DP's that have client installed but have different client
setting that tell them to not use Software Updates. We are seeing the WSUS
reg key set to SCCM's WSUS instead of the Server groups WSUS. Does anyone
else have the separation of workstation managed by SCCM and servers managed
by WSUS. The servers should be pointing to the Server groups WSUS. I was
wondering if we had something set up wrong with them. Some of the settings
we have set are below.

Compliance Settings

Enable compliance evaluation on clients No

Software Updates

                Enable software updates on clients
No

We have the server client settings set to a priority of 1
