5 min walk in vegas? stop lying. traffic up 59 is not bad at all. it is 30 min to the convention center from the airport at 8 AM. There are some FANTASTIC rooms by the airport for 60 to 80 a night., included kitchen, wifi, hottub, pool, free laundry etc. Car rental outside the airport is around 20 dollars a day if you get a car for a week. Airport adds about 10 dollars a day to the car rental cost.
Public transportation in Houston is not designed to be used. avoid it. Cabs are few and far between outside downtown. If you are in Houston you need a car. during the day you can take a cab anywhere in downtown for 5 dollars. it is a flat fee. 1 block or 50, it is 5 dollars.
