I am currently using it after my POC stage. My biggest issue (which I am told will be fixed in a newer release) is that we did not buy a license for all our machines. They said they only wanted to tackle desktops and not servers.
So the issue is that when I setup a scheduled scan I have to import the machines I want scanned manually. You could just say ALL, but if you do not have enough licenses to cover all the machines, then you may have to pay more money. They say that they are going to include Collection scanning, so this should help. I recently had some issues with packages not being able to deploy properly, so I am working with them on this. When it works it is great. You do have the option to create a .exe file instead of importing it into Software Updates and then creating a SUG to deploy, which is nice. Since Secunia only technically gives you packages for software that the vendor allows them to be install silently you may find that at the end of the day you only ever deal with 10 or so packages for the money. We have not fully implemented the product into our everyday patching cycle, but all my testing so far with different scenarios is proving to be beneficial. I am now just trying to figure out how I can get Secunia to deploy these updates during a deployment. I have not tried the other vendors, but I do like using this product. The best part is our engineering team is not even in the discussions for this. Internal politics here might get this bought and we just have to figure out how to run it. We have not implemented SCUP and it looks like we wouldn't have to with Secunia. I did bring up Shavlik but they were already looking at this product. Meh... ill just get it setup in the lab and see what I can do. We haven't bought it (yet--internal politics, who is going to pay for it, that kind of thing; but I have high hopes). I can't think of anything bad about their product at all. It's all good. Contact them for a demo is the easiest. To be fair, don't forget about looking at Shavlik, PatchMyPC.net, and um...I think there's a couple more. Eminentware? did I forget a few more? If you've already implement SCUP / deployed a trusted certificate, any one of them will allow you to deploy 3rd party patches. You'd just have to determine which vendor best fits your needs. There is a move here to look into this for addressing vulnerabilities. Just curious if you have had dealings with it as a solution.
