"We have not implemented SCUP and it looks like we wouldn’t have to with
Secunia"

True, you might not need SCUP per se; but you'll still need a code-signing cert
that your clients trust.  That's why I mention SCUP really; because if you've
setup SCUP you've setup the code-signing certificate stuff for that, which you
can re-purpose for any of the 3rd party patching solutions.  It's not all that
hard to do--but it's something you have to do so your clients trust the content
when they want to patch.

Thanks for that Sherry.  The best part is our engineering team is not even in
the discussions for this.  Internal politics here might get this bought and we
just have to figure out how to run it.  We have not implemented SCUP and it
looks like we wouldn’t have to with Secunia.  I did bring up Shavlik but they
were already looking at this product.  Meh… ill just get it setup in the lab
and see what I can do.

I've used it in a lab environment--and it's quite nice.  We haven't bought it
(yet--internal politics, who is going to pay for it, that kind of thing; but I
have high hopes).

I can't think of anything bad about their product at all.  It's all good.
Contact them for a demo is the easiest.

To be fair, don't forget about looking at Shavlik, PatchMyPC.net, and  um...I
think there's a couple more.  Eminentware?  did I forget a few more?

If you've already implement SCUP / deployed a trusted certificate, any one of
them will allow you to deploy 3rd party patches.  You'd just have to determine
which vendor best fits your needs.

Hey all,

Does anyone have any good/bad information on Secunia?  There is a move here to
look into this for addressing vulnerabilities.  Just curious if you have had
dealings with it as a solution.

Thanks,
