I don't know if it can be removed, but I can point you in the right direction (I think).
The information is stored server side not client side. If you install an application through the app catalog on a VM (and make sure it finishes with the reboot if needed), the app will show up in software center even if you re-image the VM or revert it to before the app was installed. So this leads me to believe if you're looking, you should be looking on the Primary.
