Hi everyone, As some of you may already know, I have volunteered to write a new version of BeginThread.com from scratch, using PHP and MySQL. Its visual design has changed enormously, and also I'm open to add new functionalities that you suggest (an example is the "printer friendly" version of an article that Max had suggested a long time ago.
I worked on the site locally for some time, and now it's been developed enough to make it available for beta testing. The beta site's address is http://beginthread.farda-tech.com/. Please check it out! The current site has all the 'client side' features (those relating to the people who visit the site, view topics and articles, and not the contributors who want to submit or edit an article) implemented. Its db is fulled with test data. It has two test contributors and several test topics (check out the JavaScript topic tree), some of them having some test articles, and some articles have downloadable files. Those link placeholders which currently do not work, all go to /$, which is currently a 404 error of course. What I need greatly is feedback on the site, that is, on its visual design, logical design, requested features, comments, corrections, and suggestions. Please take some time to view the site, and let me know if you have anything you feel you should say. It's your comments which can help me improve the site.
