I've performed a virus scan with the most recent AVG scanner (downloaded today), updated LookOut! to SP3, updated MSVC to SP6 (already mentioned) and I *STILL* keep locking up after a Go(F5). If it wasn't for the myriad over other niggling things needing fixing, my box would already be under the knife but I can't do that yet.
Was going to try reinstalling IE and W2K-SP4 but BellSouth's DSL service went down in the middle of my download last night. I'm going to drop back by there in about an hour and try it again. I'll let everyone know the results tomorrow. I presume no one else in the world but me is experiencing this problem. I think it's about time the "Fickle Finger of Fate" award was reinstated (not that I'd qualify but I can certainly sympathize). Ciao, Dee P.S. It's ironic this is going on considering I'm out of here next week (Tuesday's my last day). I really wanted to get a bunch of things resolved instead of dumping them on my successor. Sigh. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Dee Holtsclaw Sent: Wednesday, March 31, 2004 10:44 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [msvc] VC6 lockup during debugging No. It doesn't seem to matter where I breakpoint. At some point I'll press F5 to continue to the next breakpoint and the debugger immediately stops responding. There are breakpoints which were fine two days ago. Also, I've just reviewed all of the current breakpoints and they're all where they've always been. I can also say that installing VS6SP6 didn't fix the problem (though it's requiring me to recompile every library I have -- prior .lib's don't give an error but the resulting executable will crash). I've run into problems breakpointing in the past like you mentioned: certain places during menu or window creation and callbacks for example. All of these I'm hitting are the result of command handlers of one form or another and I've never had problems with those before. It looks like I'm going to have to get out the Asphalt... Hmm. Covering in a highly viscous petroleum sludge? Somehow it seems appropriate in more ways than one. I've had weird things happen when I break in the routine that is putting up a menu, for instance. Are you breaking in a new and unusual location? > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Dee Holtsclaw > Sent: Tuesday, March 30, 2004 7:14 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: RE: [msvc] VC6 lockup during debugging > > > Don't think so... especially considering that the App works just fine > outside of the debugger.
