DNS. Are you running AD-DNS, or other? When you install DC's in Active
Directory, I believe it searches DNS for the SRV resource record for the
Schema Master. If it can't find it, you don't get another DC.

I am trying to promote a new server to be an additional domain controller in
my domain. I keep getting this error.
The domain "mydomain" is not an Active Directory domain or an Active
Directory domain controller for the domain could not be contacted.
I do have both. Active Directory domain controller and Active Directory
domain.
