I am trying to install Windows 2000 Professional on the system below:

Motherboard: Supermicro P6DBE with Dual PII 500Mhz
Ram: 256 MB
Hard Drive: Western Digital 30 GB
Video Card: Matrox Millennium G400 Dual Head
CD ROM: Sony (Basic CD ROM)

I started the installation, booting off the CD-ROM, formatted the hard
drive, selected NTFS, and successfully installed Windows 2000 (I think). I
restart the computer, I see the black screen with the bars on the bottom
that load, then the Windows 2000 Screen with the blue boxes on the bottom
load. When that screen is finished, I get the BSOD with the following error:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.........

If this is your first time seeing this message...reset..... If you have
this problem again... check hardware...bla bla bla.

When I restart, I get the same message, or sometimes I would get a
PFN_LIST_CORRPUT or REGISTRY_ERROR. So I searched Microsoft and came to
the conclusion that I have a bad drive. The only device in the computer is
the video card and since I have not installed the driver for it yet, I
assume it is the driver that came with Windows 2000 that is not working
with the video card.

I tried two other video cards, each time reformatting and reinstalling, but
I get the same error. I also reformatted as FAT and created a small
partition (4 GB) for Windows 2000. Still no luck. Since I had Windows
2000 Professional with no Service Pack, I borrowed a friends CD-ROM which
was Windows 2000 Professional with SP1. (Since I already bought my CD-ROM,
Microsoft has their money as far as I am concern.) I tried that CD-ROM,
still no luck. I upgraded the BIOS and changed the memory, switch the Hard
Drive and CD-ROM positions on the cable and motherboard... and yes again...
still no luck.

Sort of C-4 or a 16lb sledgehammer, does any body else have any other
ideas? I have ran into problems like this before and I am usually able to
figure it out, but this one has stumped me for the last two days.

Thanks in Advance
Jacob
