I don't think you can manage Mcafee this way. Do you have the installation
designer thing? (can't remember what TLA they named it)

Subject: Virus Scan settings are not getting stored

Hi,
We have a peculiar problem after upgrading Virus Scan software to
the latest version ( 4.5.1). The problem is that the customized virus
scanning tasks are not getting stored when we import them using regedit.exe
tool. In our network, we had Virus Scan 4.5 SP1 configured with customized
scanning tasks, which perform scanning of local and network drives once in
every week. This we do to ensure a periodic check and cleanup of files of
all the drives of a system so as to ensure a virus free network.

Once we have upgraded the software to this latest version, we have
configured the scanning tasks as desired on one system, exported the
registry hive for this scanning task into a file. We then tried importing
in user logon scripts (this is the technique what we have been following so
far). Though the registry information is being applied successfully, the
scanning tasks are not getting stored onto the Virus Scan software. Even if
we manually double click this registry file, the scan tasks are not being
reflected on the Virus Scan software.

Please do let me know if anybody has faced this problem in the past
and got a fix. I mailed NAI technical support three weeks back and awaiting
for their reply. Lost hopes, hence, here I am..:-))

thanks,
-Masthan.
