Your question can't be answered. There are several layers of RAID, and several software/hardware platforms that could be being used. For instance, if you are using a RAID-5 array with the right software, and you are replacing a drive, it will be automatically added to the array, and restriped with the data. A mirror RAIDed may do the same thing. Now, if you add one drive to a mirrored RAID array, you get squat. Just do a search on RAID on the 'net. You should get enough information to at least know the levels of RAID so that you can ask questions that can be answered.
