Oohh you have the HP software running your printers. That explains it. I
personally would never subject my users to such an unstable configuration.
If you want to do it right, use tcp/ip printing. I only use Jetadmin to
assign static IP addresses to the JetDirect Card. That is about as far as I
will go with HP software.

The printers are connected by creating a port [HP] which maps to an assigned
IP address or MAC Address. once the port is created we create a printer
share it and install the driver [if it doesn't exist already]

Not sure about that, but if the print servers are on the same vlan as the
printers it shouldn't matter. Not sure how the servers and printers are
setup.

Is DLC not routable?

You must route between the vlans

No. A user printing o their own V-Lan is not having an issue. our problem
is that the Network Boys want all printer servers to be on one V-Lan, and it
just isn't working.

We are using Hp Printers/ports and DLC protocol. On our flat network over
at HQ, we have no printing issues. the only difference between our current
configuration and the "new" one is the V-Lans.

Doubt it is a TCP/IP / VLAN issue then. Are users printing to the printers
on their VLANS having the same issue?

Yes, we can ping the print server[s]. We are not using TCP/IP Printing.
The users can connect and print intermittently. When the y cannot print we
can still ping the server, but, the print jobs queue and we are forced to
clear it and restart the spooler service.

I have a vlan for every floor in this building. I have printers on every
floor. Everyone can print to every one of them.

What have you tried? Can you ping the print server?

Has anybody experienced any issues with printing across V-Lans? We have our
print server located on a 101 V-Lan and users are on 102, 103, 104. One of
the issues they experience is that cannot connect/map to the printer.

Any suggestions?
