I still say go buy an HP deskjet printer and get an external jetdirect card.

Jetdirect 300x external print server - ~180 bucks
HP Deskjet 940c - ~120 bucks.

Cheap solution, less headache.

You don't have a couple of old routers collecting dust, do you? I could see
a way to set up a dial-on-demand router configuration; timeouts may be a
problem, but could probably be worked around. Of course, if you don't have
them, you are talking about a $4000 dollar solution to a $200 printer..

Personally, I don't think that is possible . . . But I may be wrong. I
don't think you can do "dial-on-demand printing" for lack of a better
description. Heck, what port would you install the printer on? Ain't gonna
work. Either have them bring the printer to where you need to print and
hook it up to the network, or tell them to suck it up and buy a new printer.
They aren't THAT expensive - heck, you can even buy a HP deskjet-series
printer and an external Jetdirect card and network it - coupla hundred bucks
and you're all set. Good luck trying to get your scenario to work - I think
you're really gonna need it.

Well, really this is a strange scenario. We've just installed a new billing
system that went waaaay over budget...So, now I'm tasked with connecting
to/printing to an Okidata 321 Microline printer in a remote location. This
printer is connected to a modem.

Here in the local facility we have an NT Server and another modem. We want
to be able to configure this NT box to dial the modem that is remotely
connected to Okidata and send it print jobs. An external modem is also
connected to the NT box.
