This usually isn't an issue with an incorrectly set up Network or a problem
with busy domain controllers, it's a known problem with the way
authentication in NT domains work.
Basically the machine will always attempt to use the same domain controller
to authenticate. If you are on Win 2K check out Q102716.

Shaun,

The more important question is: why aren't the local DC's authenticating?
Are they too busy to respond to logon requests? Is your network configured
correctly? Are you having any other network issues?

I have a WAN over multiple sites and my local NT4 clients are not
authenticating with the local DC's so logon is taking forever. Is there a
way of forcing the local clients to look locally first?
