I did a Lookup IP Address on a test machine, and it did enter the IP address beside the FQDN. Then I changed the scope id to nothing and rebooted the test machine, and I am now longer able to browse the registry.
Can you be more specific. -----Original Message----- From: Greg Eytcheson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, May 28, 2002 9:58 AM To: MSWinNT Discussions Subject: RE: Getting rid of WINS Scope ID Hi Craig, I recognized your company as a registered user of Multi-Remote Registry Change in your posting. Multi-Remote Registry Change can use IP addresses in the computer names list just as it can regular computer names. You can also use the fully qualified domain name in the list. So, any of the following are valid: COMPUTERNAME DOMAIN\COMPUTERNAME 192.168.1.1 computername.epl.ca Mix and match as necessary :-) Best Regards, Greg Eytcheson [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.eytcheson.com -----Original Message----- From: Craig Cameron [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, May 28, 2002 10:36 AM To: MSWinNT Discussions Subject: Getting rid of WINS Scope ID Hi all, long before I was with this organization, the company that originally setup our network setup a WINS scope ID of 111. It's been a thorn in our side ever since, and now it is causing problems with a 3rd party software program we trying to install. Now, I found in the registry where it is stored on the workstations(all NT 4.0 and 2000 pro). My plan is to use a program called Multi-Reg to delete the value, then remove it from all my servers, then reboot the servers and remotely reboot the workstations. The only problem is if a station is left off or can't be remotely administered, I will not be able to communicate with it because of the different scope ID's, and that means a site visit. Does anyone know of a program that can manipulate a remote registry just by IP address?
