Sorry, I read that message now for the first time.
There are indeed many models of FD-235. HF is 1.44 MB. But there is another
number after name of the model. I know at least about 3 or 4 different models
with different jumpers.
Here is, what specification says about IR and MS:
IR Strap
(1) Strap to select the turn-oncondition of the front bezel indicator.
(2) If the IR strap is off-state, the indicator turns on while a DRIVE SELECT
signal is TRUE like a conventional FDD.
(3) If the IR strap is on-state, the indicator turns on by ANDed condition of a
DRIVE SELECT signal and the ready state of the FDD.
MS Strap
(1) Strap to rotate the spindle motor by a DRIVE SELECT signal only for a
designated FDD.
(2) If the MS strap is off-state, the motor rotates only while the MOTOR ON
signal is TRUE like a conventional FDD.
(3) If the MS strap is on-state, the motor rotates by ORed condition of a DRIVE
SELECT signal and the MOTOR ON signal.
