Question: In linear address space mode, is it still Z80 (MSX) 
compatible?

Remark: I think any MSX-hardware development is a good thing. What is 
bad: making people believe that Z380 add-on boards or motherboards 
will be available in larger quantities for a reasonable price, which 
can only happen if some organisation like Sunrise supports it with 
lots of money ($10k+).
