There should be at least one partition readable for your pc.
Copy the stuff to this partition, connect it to your pc and
backup it over there.

I used my zip drive in the opposite way, stuff downloaded
from the internet goes to msx-formatted zip, on msx I first
use checkdisk to get rid of the longfilenames using chkdsk
and then copy the stuff to a partition on my harddisk

I also use extended partitions because I have a very old 5
inch full height 1GB harddisk connected to my MSX. It has
got 32 partitions...
