programs available for it use MSX-DOS2. Since MSX-DOS2 requires a memory
mapper and an MSX2, this will not work...

Yes there are : eddy2, ehhhhh... I didn't really use these programs for MSX1
(right, screen 4 is for MSX2, but it's like screen 2, but with better sprites)
I'm not sure I did understand this question, you mean the screens of the V9938?
For the Gfx9000 the screen modes are named different.

I have never done it. Some years ago (3??) I tried it but I didn't get it right.
But don't espect this will be very usefull.

one pixel timing error. If the error would be constant, this would work, but it isn't.

Video9000 : yes, this is just as it suppose to be.
The advantage of the Video9000 are the digitizing capabilities. This is not available
in
the Gfx9000....
