Has other possibility. Some MSX models have ways to upgrade the
RAM adding/replacing RAM banks. For example the FS A1 WX (with
64Kb but adding RAM chips upgradable to 128Kb). My Turbo R (ST)
has internal 1Mb, using a similar method.

If you only want play Megal Gear 2 you can buy a Brazilian
MegaRAM with 512Kb of RAM...
