Is the problem that the organisation really needs more stand holders?
Or do they only need more money?

It the second is true, it might be a better idea to raise the
entrance fee. For most people, the train ticket or the car petrol is
more expensive that the entrance fee anyway.

Also, I know that some people would be willing to donate money to see
Tilburg continued, but those people might not want to fill a stand.
One problem of having a stand is that you are expected to show something,
so if you have been lazy last year but you do want to keep informed
on the MSX scene and talk to all the people you know, you'll come as
a visitor, not as a stand holder.
Another problem of having a stand is that you have to watch it. It's
not safe to leave your beautiful MSX hardware unattended. This is not
paranoia, my backpack was stolen in Zandvoort '97. :(
The reason why I mentioned those two problems is to illustrate the
fact that people not booking a stand have other reasons besides the
price. This is why donations might work.

Another option that was mentioned was moving to a smaller location.
Apart of the advantage of a lower rent, it would also have a positive
psychological effect: the fair site will look like a crowded place
again. Half-filled halls make MSX-ers think of the people that left
the scene, a smaller space might make them think of the people that
stayed.

Bye,
                Maarten
