 Sorry , but AY-3-8910 was created and manufacturated by General
Instuments (GI)
as part of the Mattel's Intelevision game system chipset, ASCII used it
on the MSX
 system because of the I/O ports , wich could easily inplement the
Joystick ports 
and the 3 sound generators ...

 If you mail GI about this IC they will surely reply exactly what I said
...

 Texas chip was cheaper because it was slower and had no envelopes.

 Also Takes a look on the AY-3-8910 and you will see A HUGE GI
logo painted on it ! Hahahaha =)
