If you're talking about the creators of Salamander, you're
talking about game-developers of Konami in 1986/87. I think
there is no way to get in contact with them, unless you're
very lucky.

I can say a few things I know about it... I posess the game since
about 1990. I finished the game a couple of times now.

First of all the last extra weapons. I have never been able to use
these and I know nobody who ever was. I own both the original
European and Japanese version and I read about it in the Japanese
manual once. I think these are weapons that can be used only when
playing the game in dual play mode (two players at the same time)
and when the two players are linked to one, huge ship (there are
items to be found for this purpose). I have never actually seen these
weapons, but judging from the Japanese manual, 'Twin shot' and
'Triple shot' aren't very spectacular (I think these are nothing more
than 'normal', but now using two respectively three bullets). About
'Arming ball' I forgot, but I can research it if you like.

There are said to be three different Salamander-videos. In fact,
these tell one story, but it's also possible to understand the
story of one part without having seen the other parts. In Japan,
these videos were released by Konami itself. The videos have
also been published in England by 'Western Connection'. The
character designs are from Haruhiko Mikimoto (if I'm correct),
who also designed the well-known Macross-series. I myself only
saw one part. In the video I saw, there were elements from the
game, but the story really differs from that of the game. Some
monsters and the like, however, do reappear.

Salamander wasn't released exclusively on MSX. There's also
some sort of NES-salamander called 'Life Force' and Salamander
also appeared on systems like the PC-Engine. There also exists
a Salamander 2, which was released for the PlayStation and
some other systems (also Sega Saturn, if I'm correct). With the
release of Salamander 2, Salamander and Life Force were
re-released for the PSX. In Salamander 2, however, there is
totally no game story present, but the game itself is great.

I think I can tell you some more things about the game, so if there's
anything you'd like to ask, go ahead... I don't know what you DO
know and what you do NOT know, so telling everything I know
right now won't be a good idea either...

Anyway, Salamander is one of the best shoot 'em ups I know...

Bye
Rieks
