You probably started the game from SCREEN0, WIDTH80. In that case it's
possible for the VDP to have some VRAM pointers pointing beyond the first
16K of VRAM.
To solve it, switch to an MSX1 video mode before starting the game. SCREEN2
works very well. Just include this in the BASIC loader program for your game.
