To be honest, I have always been too lazy to set all registers to the correct
values and wipe out all memory. It is much easier to set the correct screen
mode via the BIOS. Besides, speed is not an issue here, since setting the
screen mode is something that you do only a very few times. Furthermore, the
VDP needs much more time to clean-up the VRAM then the Z80 needs for the
overhead of the BIOS routine...
But ofcourse, if you prefere to set the screen mode the hard way, then I will
certainly not stop you from doing so.
