I didn't say "another". I agree that would be a waste of time.

fMSX and RuMSX source code can be downloaded. And there is also the
possibility of asking an emulator author for this feature.

If you turn the "video dump" off, it won't affect performance.

It depends on your taste and on the graphics you want to capture. Hi-res
graphics like SCREEN7 look better if they're sharp, in my opinion.

The right kind of image filter could accomplish that on the saved video.

Yes, if you happen to have a TV card.

But I wonder if maybe compression will work better on videos captured from
emulators. I guess it depends on the compression method. MPEG may prefer
the blurred captured images, but animated GIFs would surely favour emulator
output.

Most MSX emulators are free...

fMSX runs under Linux and loads of other systems. So do TV cards. I don't
understand this remark...?
