] Sure... And the MS in MSX-DOS and MS-DOS also don't mean Micro$oft...
] And I wouldn't be so happy about the fact M$ left the MSX to ASCII. ASCII

] Sure M$ bashing is cool nowadays.. But don't deny their involvemend...
I'm sorry to dissapoint you but I'm disliking Microsoft already since many
many years. One of the reasons behind this is the way in which they betrayed
the MSX system.

To quote from the introduction of "The MSX Technical databook, Part C:
expanded MSX system software":
-- start of quote
MSX-DOS is a disk operating system for MSX computers. The system
with its compatibility to other versions of MS-DOS will surely
provide you a comfortable environment around. All Microsoft
languages (BASIC Interpreter, BASIC Compiler, COBOL,
Pascal) will be available under MSX-DOS. Users of MSX-DOS are
assured that their operating system will be the first that
Microsoft will support when any new products or major releases are
announced.
-- end of quote

I'm still still waiting for Microsoft COBOL and Microsoft Pascal under
MSX-DOS. I'm also still waiting for Office, Windows, Microsoft flight
simulator and all other new products and major releases that Microsoft has
made since 1984.

The only thing that Microsoft did with MSX-DOS was to make sure by setting up
OEM-Licences that they received a nice licence fee for every MSX diskdrive
that was ever sold. However, they did not use these licence incomes to
further enhance MSX-DOS or develop other MSX software. They just sat on it
until ASCII forced Microsoft to give ASCII the right to license a new version
of MSX-DOS to manufacturers. That is one of the main reasons that the release
of MSX-DOS2 was almost 5 years after the release of MSX-DOS.

This is just one of the many many many things that Microsoft has misdone in
the past and is still misdoing now and for which I strongly dislike them.

Kind regards,
Alex Wulms
