I REALLY use(d) Turbo Pascal. Check my homepage! It is quite usable. Speed
comparable with KUN Basic, but sometimes faster. I always used the libaries
of Kari Lammassaari, which can be downloaded from my homepage. He also made
a Moonblaster driver and a SEE (Sound Effects Editor by Fuzzy Logic) driver.
Though, I think he still could improve it. He promised to do this quite some
time ago, but I have the feeling he is not into it anymore... (He would make
good memory management for his routines.... some only work under DOS 2
now... and there seem to be some bugs in some of his libs...)
Anyway, it is surely worth to check it out.
To answer your Q's: so, there is support for MB by one of the libs of Kari,
no support for Moonsound yet (but I guess you can make that yourself, just
adapt the basicdriver...). Of course you can include your own machine code,
however, it must be opcodes in TP 3.x... With this, many fast routines were
made by Kari, directly accessing the VDP. And with this you can make your
own Moonsound drivers, e.g. Quite nice.
Anyway, if you have MCCM 90, I recommend you to use Turbo Pascal 3.3e
(better: f, which has one bug of e solved!) which you can find on one of
your cds.
TP 3.00A is usable, but for bigger projects it becomes a terrible thing...
And if you like MEMMAN, you can even use the graphical libs coming with TP
3.3... I never use them though, since I don't like my programs to have run
MemMan before booting.
Best regards,
Manuel
