Why? Moderation doesn't have to be done by hand (actually, the sentence
should read: "Moderation shouldn't be done by hand" :-))

Not really: yu can have an (automated) script that checks the sender
and discards the mail if it isn't on the subscriber list.

That's only a small extension: besides the subscriber list, make a list of
'trusted posters' and only accept mails from ppl on this list...

this list is not *that* big that moderation is really necessary...
