Good idea to involve the hardware guys like HPN (read Hans Oranje). I will
mail him, sometimes he reads the comp.sys.msx.

Changing the chips is not too difficult but if you never done it before and
value your MSX, better let it be done by a more experienced person.

And just changing the chips gives you hardware but not ROM software support,
like the new MSX Basic 4 with screen 10-12 statements, scroll etc.

My 8280 was modified to MSX2+ by also adding a slightly modified (keyboard
layout) MSX Basic version 4 ROM.
A switch on the front allows the MSX2 old ROMS or the new MSX2+ ROMS. Quite
nice.

Cool. I think I want even 3 instead of 2 (one to waste... :))

Try contacting HPN, MCWF Hardware, CIEL, and other hardware developers. They
don't read this list but are certainly interested (I think there will be
quite some animo for modifying MSX 2 to MSX 2+ with little cost).

By the way, is it an easy thing to do? Is it just a matter of soldering out
the old VDP and replacing it by a v9958???
