Most Mitsumi 2speed aren't IDE controlled. I connected such a player to IDE
once and it didn't work, just because I asumed it was IDE (looking at the
connector), but the jumpers made me think otherwise.

Real IDE? Don't be mislead as these CD-ROM players may have a connector
similair to the IDE (40-pins, 2 rows of 20) they still need a different
interface. The only way to see if it's an IDE or some other CD-ROM player,
check the jumpers. If you see 4 next to each other counted from 0 to 3, it
definately isn't IDE. IDE has MA, SL and sometimes a CS jumper. If you put
a non-IDE CD-ROM player on a IDE interface, it just won't work... Take it
from me.
