Yes, that's true. OPL timers have been present since OPL1. Only OPLL
(MSX-MUSIC) doesn't have them, AFAIK.

There is the MoonBlaster Wave replayer (which Konami Man was having trouble
with).
I think Triple M's MIDI software also used OPL timers.
NOP SampBox did use OPL1 interrupts, but from ADPCM, not from the timers.
