In your proposal both the gameID and subID are almost meaningless and
subID's differ from game to game. A single number would be just as effective.
I think the game should be identified by a CRC(16/32), not by a number. The
database can keep track which CRC's are different versions of some game.
What if a ROM originally thought of as 178.0 turns out to be not the
original game? The 178.0 would turn into 178.1 and all .msx files with
178.0 would be incorrect. If there's just a CRC as gameID only the database
would need updating.
Also, for covers/manual scans and hints/walkthroughs etc., I think they
should be downloadable in some sort of .msx support file so you can store
them locally.
I still have doubts whether or not to include screenshots, because for a
real MSX a few kB already make a big difference. Maybe they should be moved
to the support file as well.
