] IDE wasn't done to be used in peripherals which are outside of ] the PC cabinet. SCSI, otherwise, can have much longer cables. I've a 2 m ] SCSI cable, and I think Maarten - or was Alex Wulms - has a 6 ] meters-long SCSI cable. My SCSI cables are not that long.
