] Uhm once I connected two external drives to my Sony HB-F700P, which worked 
] fine. Possibly "1 0" is used for the third drive (if connected).
In that case I should update my note that "1 0" implies drive A is only valid 
on Philips NMS 8250/55 series. If memory serves me well, it is hardwired like 
that in those models. At least, according to the service manuals... Please 
keep in mind that the memorymapped ports are only for the internal 
diskcontroller. And these models can only have 1 or 2 internal floppy drives 
and they have no connector for an external floppy drive.
