Neos once sold a MSX1 -> MSX2 upgrade cartridge in Japan, but I don't think it sold very well, as this upgrade cartridge can be considered a rare item nowadays. The only person I know of who owns one, also owns 3 or 4 Turbo R machines, so I guess the chance that he is still using the upgrade cartridge is zero. What I was wondering about is whether these upgrade cartridges actually perform some kind of check to see whether there is something to upgrade on the machine they are running on. Concretely, what happens if you put such an upgrade cartridge in a Turbo R?
