Erm I don't see any possible situation in which this value has not been initialized...? Or is there? All MSX BIOSes fill in this variable at initialization-time I would think, and if a BIOS doesn't, well, if your MSX contains a BIOS so unstandard it isn't worth to be called a BIOS at all, imho. A lot of other software won't work either, in that case. I don't think it's better to assume the existence of this worse-case scenario and use a nonstandard method of BIOS detection because of that.
