I already did that, both with
export TESSDATA_PREFIX=/c/msys64/mingw64/share
and with
export TESSDATA_PREFIX=/c/msys64/mingw64/share/tessdata
In both cases I get:
tesseract -l ita -psm 3 foo-0001.tmppage.tiff foo-0001.tmppageocr pdf
Error: failed to load C:/msys64/mingw64/share/tessdata/ita.special-words

Now I have double checked.. but same result.
The output is created but it does not seem to work as expected..
