[FWIW, as I said I'd try to compile git-svn: I haven't gone anywhere,
but obviously Christian has lots more experience than I do in building
this kind of stuff, so I'm not investing time in this for now. That
does not mean that I wouldn't like to help, if I'm ever able to wrap
my head over the git source code...]
