Comments (rather obvious):
1) that e-mail was from Ferenc Kovacs was of
extremely bad taste, or worse, and should
probably have been moderated by the list manager
(if there is one).
2) "juice" and "jews" (with the usual meanings) are homophones only in English.
3) no language seems to have one single word
which is ambiguous with these 2 meanings.
Conclusion:
1) This is a hoax. Translation (HT, MT) cannot be involved.
2) The only way to produce that kind of output
using MT would be to speak it IN ENGLISH, use an
ASR, not correct the output, translate it in
another language L, and back to English. That
evidently does not correspond to any
translational situation.

When I posted this picture of a supposedly Muslim
guy in New York holding a sign saying "Death to
all Juice", I did not know that the image was not
a solo incident, but part of a series - the
almost-meme even had a tshirt dedicated to it!
Last month, a researcher friend from MIT
forwarded me a very similar picture of the same
placard but with a different protester, more
muslim looking this time, and told me that the
images were being passed around in MIT and
Stanford over email, eliciting the usual muslim
hate comments that we are all so used to.
A google search told me that most of the people
were ridiculing the illiterate 'moon-bat mozzies'
in the picture for not being able to spell (here,
here and here), while a Jihad Watch commenter
attributed it to be the work of a certain
'Jouseff Al-Khattab, with some clever use of
language 'calling for genocide without getting
busted for hate speech'. A certain commenter from
http://vigilantsquirrelbrigade.blogspot.com/
claimed to have taken the 'hilarious pic of
illiterate NY moonbat' and claimed to have
witnessed the guy getting arrested - according to
the squirrel, the incident occurred in December.

Just to show the result of a free "MT web server"
producing an instant "translation" -- in this
case a French translation by Google Translate.
Of course it is not a good translation, but if I
use it as "pretranslation", I get a good one in 7
minutes. Note abreviations ("pic" for "picture")
and familiar words (mozzies, lune-bat).
A human translator using no help and translating
rapidly could probably spend 15-20 minutes on
that task (normal, slow rate would be 4/5*60=48
minutes). Translation memories would probably not
help much.
In this case, MT used for post-edition reduced
the human time by a factor of about 2 to 3.
