We would like to bring to your attention the IATI PhD School on Translation and Interpreting Studies, held in conjunction with the 7th International Translation Summer School "SummerTrans VII" at the University of Innsbruck (Austria), 11 – 13 July, 2016.
Although not focusing explicitly on machine translation, contributions from this field are highly welcome given the importance of strengthening ties between the machine translation and translation studies communities. The mentors of the PhD school are experts in translation-relevant linguistic theory, translation technology and human-machine interaction (postediting, controlled language).
The IATI PhD School is a discussion forum for early stage researchers. It is a superb opportunity to present your own doctoral or postdoctoral research (e.g. doctoral or habilitation theses) in order to discuss open issues, to receive valuable feedback and to connect with colleagues from the international scientific community.
If you would like to participate in the IATI PhD School on Translation and Interpreting Studies, you will need to register for the main event SummerTrans VII. In addition, please send an abstract (1 page max.) to the coordinator [email protected] by 20 June 2016. Abstracts should clearly state the topic of your research, as well the research questions, main goals and methodology.
All submissions to the PhD School will be accepted on a first come, first served basis since there is a limit of 12 participants. Presentations will be allotted 15 minutes, followed by 15 minutes for discussion. The lecturers and trainers of the SummerTrans VII summer school will mentor PhD School participants in order to give them feedback and valuable advice. In addition, the best contributions to the PhD School may be published in a volume of the Peter Lang series "Forum Translationswissenschaft".
The tuition fee (early bird rate until 15 May 2016: EUR 150; regular rate: EUR 200) includes participation in the PhD School and the social programme of SummerTrans VII. Extra fee for participation in full SummerTrans VII programme (including all workshops) of EUR 50.
