Salary: £31,866 to £40,322 Per annum Closing Date: 11th March 2020 For further information and to apply: https://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/BYO960/research-associate-in-machine-translation-2-posts We are seeking two Research Associates (one full time, one part time) to work within both projects: 1) Automatic Post-editing for Machine Translation, as part of the European Commission APE-QUEST (Automatic Post-Editing and Quality Estimation) project. You will be expected to adapt and develop methods for automatic post-editing using deep learning algorithms. 2) Machine Translation, as part of the European Commission project Bergamot (Browser-based Multilingual Translation). You will be expected to lead the design and development of strategies to guide neural machine translation models to generate adequate translations, as well as to contribute to the design and development of quality estimation approaches for end-users of in-browser translation. For both lines of research, you will build on state of the art approaches based on deep learning. This is an opportunity to work in a well-connected international team with world-leading reputations in the Natural Language Processing (NLP) research group at the University of Sheffield. The NLP group is well known internationally for its research, and is one of the largest research groups in computational linguistics and text engineering in the UK. The posts offers excellent opportunities for publications, project visits and conference trips. You must have a PhD (or be close to completion/have equivalent work experience). You should have experience of Machine Translation or similar sequence to sequence tasks (such as Text Simplification or Text Summarisation). You should also have knowledge of Deep Learning frameworks and excellent programming skills in Python. The posts are fixed term until 31 December 2021.
