From the manual:

Emacs is indeed complaining that it cannot find mu4e, but I’m not sure where to 
poke for mu4e’s installation directory as I thought it was supposed to install 
alongside mu? (mu4e is certainly not in my usual emacs package repos.)  

I installed mu via a package manager (MacPorts on OS X). Any clues where I 
should start to poke for mu4e install directory? Even if only in relation to 
the mu install directory, which I can presumably track down with some research 
into where MacPorts puts things.

Apologies if this is a basic question.
