It is also my understanding that is what has happened.

For this reason I've forked off the branch with with the fix [1] for the
crash reported by Josiah [2] from most recent master (commit d4be790 "*
mu4e: minor doc fixes") instead of preparing a v2 of thread sort
speed-up patch set [3].
